Los huevos generadores[fn 1] de criaturas son objetos que, como su propio nombre indica, generan criaturas directamente.
Obtención
Puedes obtener huevos generadores en Creativo o mediante comandos. En modo creativo, el jugador puede usar el botón de elegir bloque (por defecto el clic central o de la rueda del ratón) sobre una criatura para obtener su huevo correspondiente. Los huevos también están disponibles en el inventario del modo creativo. Hay un total de 67 huevos en Bedrock Edition y 64 en Java Edition.
Utilización
Un huevo generador se utiliza haciendo el clic izquierdo sobre cualquier superficie con él en la mano. Al usarlo aparecerá la criatura y emitirá automáticamente un sonido característico de ella.
Estos huevos no se lanzan (a diferencia de los huevos normales); sino que el jugador tiene un límite de distancia de actuación. Las criaturas hostiles y neutrales (excepto lobos, osos polares, pandas, delfines, llamas, abejas, vindicadores,invocadores, shulkers, zoglins, hoglins, piglin bruto (solo en BE) y piglins) generadas en dificultad «Pacífica» aparecen y desaparecen del mundo inmediatamente.
Se prioriza la superficie de bloques sólidos para generar a las criaturas, pero si no hay ninguna cerca, pueden aparecer también en el agua.
Dispensadores
Un huevo lanzado por un dispensador genera una criatura frente al dispensador.
Criaturas bebé
Si una criatura tiene forma bebé y el jugador usa un huevo sobre una criatura adulta, se generará una forma bebé de dicha criatura.[Solo Java Edition] Otras criaturas, como invocadores, vindicadores y vexes no tienen crías.
Generadores
Todos los huevos generadores se pueden utilizar en un generador de criaturas para cambiar la criatura que contiene. Las de huevos de peces solo se generan si el generador está bajo el agua.
Renombrar
Un huevo generador puede renombrarse en un yunque y al generar una criatura aparecerá con dicho nombre sobre su cabeza. El nombre se puede ver al apuntar a la criatura a menos de 5 bloques de distancia. También aparece su nombre en los mensajes de muerte cuando este mata a un jugador. Hay algunos nombres que contiene características especiales: si se renombra un huevo de conejo como «Toast», aparecerá un aspecto exclusivo. Cualquier criatura como «Dinnerbone» o «Grumm» hace que la criatura aparezca bocabajo. Renombrar a un vindicador como «Johnny» hace que sea hostil con todas las criaturas excepto con otros saqueadores. Renombrar a una oveja como «jeb_» hace que la oveja sea multicolor (en un bucle arcoíris). Esto no cambia el color de la lana obtenida de la oveja.

Al usar el comando /give
para obtener un huevo, se necesita la ID numérica de una entidad; por ejemplo: /give <playername> spawn_egg 1 33

Estos huevos no tienen colores (son negros) y no tienen nombre, solo aparece «Generar».
- Se puede obtener por comandos el fantasma del guardián ancestral (120).
- El huevo generador de la ID del cuadro, detiene el juego.
